The experience
The views along Lake Geneva are already unrivalled, but add to that a castle that would fit right into the pages of a fairy tale, and you have something truly remarkable. Chillon Castle is the cherry on top of this part of Switzerland’s natural beauty.
While the location has been occupied since the Bronze Age, the castle as we know it today has its roots in the 12th century with the Counts of Savoy, and has passed through the hands of a number of nobility since, with the Bernese period lasting from the 16th-18th centuries and the Vaudois period still going today.
During your visit, you’ll get to enjoy around 300 items on display inside! With the exception of the furniture, weapons and armor, all of the items exhibited here were found during the archaeological digs carried out at the castle from 1896 to 1903.
