The experience
Explore the cathedral with an English- or Italian-speaking guide, or use the multilingual audio guide. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, or the Duomo, is a key Renaissance site and icon of Florence.
Its octagonal dome, by Filippo Brunelleschi, stands out in the cityscape. Construction began in the 13th century, combining Gothic, Romanesque, and Renaissance styles.
Outside, you'll see marble facades, sculptures, and frescoes. Inside, there's stained glass, mosaics, and a grand altar. The Duomo is a symbol of Florence's architectural and artistic heritage, attracting millions of visitors annually.
