The experience

Train like an astronaut at the Kennedy Space Center

The Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) at the Kennedy Space Center is your chance to train for liftoff. Using high-tech and hands-on activities, you can get a taste of what it's like to prepare for a mission to Mars.

There are two programs to enjoy, the Astronaut Training Experience and Mars Base 1. After you've learned the skills an astronaut needs, you'll “live” on Mars and perform base operations, real science experiments, and engineering tasks.

The experience is built around problem solving, communication, and collaboration. If you've ever wondered whether you've got what it takes to make it at NASA, now's your chance!

Important visitor information

Must know

Do not participate in this experience if you have high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness. Expectant mothers should also not participate

Before purchase

For ATX Plus Tickets: Half-day admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex + ATX experience must be used the same day

Ages 10–17 must be with a paying, participating adult

Good to know

Spacewalk Training: Participants must be at least 48 inches/1.22 meters tall. Max weight 275 pounds/127 kilograms

Walk on Mars Virtual Reality: Do not participate if you are prone to motion sickness. You must be at least 48” tall

Lander/Rover Simulator: Participants must be at least 51 inches/1/3 meters tall

All exhibits are subject to change and tours may be altered or closed due to operational requirements or launch preparations

How to use

Please scan your smartphone voucher upon entry

Minimum/Maximum purchase rules, there are only 24 guests per ATX session (non-group related). Guests must be 10 years or older (with a paid adult) to participate in the ATX program

ATX Plus includes access to the Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) program (8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. – ending time may vary), followed by admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex until park close. The half-day admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex must be used on the same calendar date as the scheduled ATX Plus experience
