The experience
A sobering reminder of the realities of war, but a beautiful tribute – the Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place of more than 400,000 service members and their families.
This semi-private guided walking tour takes you around the grounds that once belonged to General Robert E. Lee. You'll find out more about him, along with other important names who have been laid to rest here.
Your guide will give you more details about famous tombs such as those of President John F. Kennedy and soldier Audie Murphy. You'll also visit a few lesser-known graves, like that of famed boxer Joe Louis.
Pay your respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, you might even have the chance to witness a Changing of the Guard ceremony. Before you leave, see the more modern memorials to the victims of the space shuttles Columbia and Challenger while walking these hallowed grounds.
