According to some legends, the palace was built over the remaining foundations of a temple dedicated to god Helios, and it was probably the same spot where the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the ancient world's seven wonders, once stood.

The Palace is today one of the very rare examples of Gothic-style architecture in Greece, and thanks to its unique setting by the sea it makes for one of the must-see cultural visits during your Mediterranean escape.
