Learn about slavery on a Southern plantation
At Destrehan Plantation, you’ll be introduced by name, not just to the people whose portraits hang in this historic home, but to many of the enslaved men and women who built this plantation.
Visit the slave quarters, which offer a reminder of the brutal reality of plantation life, and see the sugar cane fields and processing equipment, which were a significant part of the plantation's economy.
Destrehan Plantation is only 25 miles away from New Orleans and 10 miles away from the New Orleans International Airport.
