The experience

Visit ancient catacombs and explore a historic fortress

Depart from Cairo in the morning for a 2.5 to 3-hour drive to Alexandria.

Begin your visit at Pompey's Pillar, a large Roman column and one of Alexandria's most recognizable landmarks. Next, explore the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, a fascinating underground tomb complex that reflects a blend of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman cultures.

Continue to the Qaitbay Citadel, a 15th-century fortress built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, offering insights into the city’s historical significance. Then, visit the modern Alexandria Library, which pays tribute to the intellectual history of its ancient predecessor.
