The experience
Visit the Piccolomini Library and view artworks
Get tickets to Siena Cathedral (Duomo di Siena), which includes entry to the Piccolomini Library and the nearby Palazzo delle Papesse. On select dates, the cathedral’s inlaid marble floor – usually kept covered – is opened to visitors, showing biblical and symbolic scenes.
In the Piccolomini Library, see frescoes painted by Pinturicchio, telling the story of Enea Silvio Piccolomini (later Pope Pius II). You can also view illuminated choir books and a Roman statue of the Three Graces. At Palazzo delle Papesse, see the Renaissance building linked to the Piccolomini family.
