The experience
Visit the Baths of Caracalla, an ancient Roman site. Use an audio guide to explore the ruins and learn about nearly 2,000 years of history.
Built by Septimius Severus and Caracalla, these public baths featured a hypocaust system for heating. Walk through the ruins with your audio guide, which highlights 17 points of interest, including the swimming pool.
See the gymnasium and massage rooms, and learn about their role in Roman daily life. Look at the preserved mosaics, and hear how stones from the baths were later used to construct St. Peter’s Basilica.
