The experience
Founded in 1889, the Guimet Museum houses one of the most extensive collections of Asian art globally, and it is the largest in Europe. It exhibits masterpieces from regions spanning from Afghanistan to Japan.
Founded in Lyon before relocating to Paris, the museum found its home in the landmark building Émile Guimet constructed on the Chaillot hill.
Overlooking Place d’Iéna, this historic site was born from Guimet’s vision to create a museum of world religions, inspired by his journeys through Egypt.
Today, the Musée Guimet works closely with leading museums across Asia through scientific and technical partnerships and temporary exhibitions, fostering dialogue and understanding between civilisations, cultures, and beliefs.
