During the visit, see the church, Lower Choir, Chapel of the Girls, Sacristy of the Knights, and Chapter Hall, each featuring interior artistic decorations that narrate the history of this unique monastery.

The Order of Santiago was established in the 12th century (around 1170) in the Kingdom of León. It was founded to defend Christians during the Reconquista and to protect pilgrims journeying to Santiago de Compostela.

Named for and symbolized by the Apostle Saint James, Spain's patron and a central figure in medieval warrior mythology, the order originally combined military and religious pursuits, integrating protection efforts with a spiritual life.
