Learn about ancient settlements and see historical archaeological finds

Learn about the intriguing past of Ensérune, a Celtic "oppidum" or fortified town, founded around 575 BC on a hillside with steep slopes that offered natural protection.

You'll see Celtic metalwork, goldsmithing, ceramics, and decorated military gear decorated with coral.

Starting around 600 BC, active Greek ports in the region brought luxury items like black-glazed tableware into the city for nearly 500 years.

By 200 BC, growing Roman influence changed daily life, as trade boomed: you'll see large Roman-style houses lining the ancient city streets.

Get a peek into the past and get great views spanning from the Cévennes to the Pyrenees, covering the Languedoc plain up to the coastline.
