The experience
Board a rowboat to see thousands of flickering fireflies by the river bank
See the world’s largest firefly colony in Kuala Selangor, where you can watch thousands of fireflies light up the trees at night.
Visit Fort Altingsburg, a historic hilltop site from the 18th century, once used for defending the city. Walk around the fort’s remains and learn about its history while taking in views from the top.
Later, take a boat ride through the mangrove swamps after dark to see the fireflies. Their lights flicker together in the trees along the riverbank.
Then, see the “Blue tears” in Kuala Selangor, where glowing plankton create blue light in the water. A boat ride gives you a close look at this unique sight.
End your evening with a set dinner at a local seafood restaurant in a fishing village, where you can try local food and get a sense of daily life in the area.

15:30: Pickup from hotels in Kuala Lumpur City Centre and Bukit Bintang area (if 2+ people)
17:00: Arrive at Kota Melawati (formerly Fort Altingsburg)
Weekdays: Walking tour to Bukit Melawati (15-20 minutes)
Weekends: Tram service
18:00: Depart to restaurant in Kuala Selangor
18:30: Local dinner
19:30: Depart to jetty for registration
20:00: Board boat to observe fireflies and blue tears
21:30: Depart back to Kuala Lumpur
23:00: Drop off at original pick-up locations
How to use
Solo travelers must reach Berjaya Times Square (main entrance) on their own
The supplier will email you the evening before (after 20:00) with time and driver details
